According to Rick Littlefield, if you are planning a vacation this summer, you are probably wondering what to do in Maine. There are plenty of great activities to keep the kids occupied during the summer months. You can enjoy the great outdoors in Maine with a whitewater rafting or kayaking trip. Visitors can take a walk along the shoreline, swim in tidal pools, and explore sea life. Then, you can take scenic air tours of the state, in gliders or biplanes.
If you love wildlife, whale watching cruises are a great way to get up close and personal with them. The whale-watching season lasts from mid-April to October. Just make sure you plan ahead! Rick Littlefield claims that if you're traveling in a group, there are a number of things to do in the state. The Old Port Festival is the single largest festival in Maine and is a must-see. You can also visit the Kennebunkport Festival and sample local fare and wines. There are also a number of festivals in Maine throughout the summer.
