According to Rick Littlefield, if you are planning a vacation this summer, you are probably wondering what to do in Maine. There are plenty of great activities to keep the kids occupied during the summer months. You can enjoy the great outdoors in Maine with a whitewater rafting or kayaking trip. Or, you can hire a Maine Guide for a fishing trip. The coastline is also loaded with historical lighthouses and other attractions. Visitors can take a walk along the shoreline, swim in tidal pools, and explore sea life. Then, you can take scenic air tours of the state, in gliders or biplanes.
If you love wildlife, whale watching cruises are a great way to get up close and personal with them. The whale-watching season lasts from mid-April to October. If you are interested in the history of art, you can also visit Perkins Township, an abandoned town on the Kennebec River. You can also visit Swan Island, which is accessible only by boat. This site is a good place for seeing whales. If you love the smell of maple syrup, you might want to visit a sugar house. Many sugar houses open their doors on Maine Maple Sunday. You can sample some syrup, watch a demonstration, and tour a sugar factory. Then, you can take a tour and try some of the best Maine has to offer. It's definitely worth the time. Just make sure you plan ahead! Rick Littlefield claims that if you're traveling in a group, there are a number of things to do in the state. The Old Port Festival is the single largest festival in Maine and is a must-see. You can also visit the Kennebunkport Festival and sample local fare and wines. There are also a number of festivals in Maine throughout the summer. Seafood lovers should eat lobster. Maine lobster comes fresh from the harbor to your plate and is a must-try during your visit. Lobster can be purchased at restaurants and roadside clam shacks, but there is also an authentic lobster pound, where you can try the fresh catch of the day. Or, you can pack a lobster to take with you. There are lots of ways to enjoy Maine seafood, but a lobster bake is the best option for seafood enthusiasts. In the opinion of Rick Littlefield for those who enjoy nature, visiting a lighthouse is an unusual, off-the-beaten-path attraction. West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is the most eastern point in the contiguous United States and is one of only two red-and-white-banded lighthouses in the country. Another attraction in the area is the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which spans 295 acres in Boothbay. The gardens are New England's largest and most popular botanical attraction and boast a dramatic landscape. When is the Best Time to Visit Maine? Acadia National Park is a beautiful length of shoreline that surrounds an inland region with many lakes and streams. Bears, moose, and bald eagles are among the animals that call the park home. The Park Loop Road goes around the park, and you may tour it by automobile or bike. Rent a kayak or jet ski to get the most out of your trip and take in the sights of Moosehead Lake. Maine provides a choice of ice fishing and cross-country skiing for those seeking more severe sports. Maine features miles of interconnecting snowmobile tracks, whether you prefer a slower speed. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will appreciate the calmer trails. If you're searching for a fast-paced experience, Maine has a number of ski resorts and other amenities to choose from. Rick Littlefield pointed out that, Cape Lookout State Park is a favorite escape in Freeport, despite its small size. There are miles of defined paths and wildlife walks throughout this 541-acre park. There are also cranberry bogs and cold-water rocky beaches. This park has everything to offer everyone. If you don't mind the cold, Cape Lookout State Park is the place to go. If you enjoy animals, the coast and coastal islands of Maine are ideal for whale viewing. During the summer, you may go on a whale watching trip to see these magnificent creatures up close. You may also visit Seal Island and Matinicus Rock for a better view of moose and puffins. From mid-May to mid-July, as well as in the fall, a guided tour of these sites is provided. The Old Port, in Portland's historic downtown, is a bustling maritime sector. On the docks, fishing boats and lobster boats may be seen. Sailing ships' lofty masts are a common sight. The state's main city, Portland, has a lovely Old Port full with interesting stores and delectable eateries. Beautiful cobblestone streets may also be seen in this part of town. If sunsets are your thing, get early at the lighthouse to ensure you have the best sight. Also, don't miss out on the local seafood! You'll be pleased you took the time to do so. These are just a handful of the sites in Maine where you may have fun. Another wonderful outdoor activity in Maine is hiking the Eben Ice Caves. The 1.4-mile journey begins level, but soon becomes a series of ups and downs. After then, the route separates into two sections. One path leads to the caverns' bottom, while the other leads to the caves' top. During the peak freeze, you may spend around half an hour exploring the caverns, shooting photographs from behind the freezing stalactites, and climbing ice curtains. The West Quoddy Head Light, which is situated on the easternmost point of the contiguous United States, is a stunning and well-known sight. One of two red-and-white banded lighthouses in the United States may also be seen by visitors. Another popular activity is a visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay.
